Larry Roselle, President, Trail Easements

Larry Roselle is a trail owner on the Hooper Creek trail. He is a retired banker and was the founding CEO of Sunrise Bank in Cocoa Beach, FL. He has over 30 years of community involvement, serving as chairman of numerous nonprofit service organizations and property owners associations. Larry and his wife Tracy moved from Florida to Tryon in 2020 with their horses specifically due to the FETA trail system and both serve as trail maintenance volunteers. Larry and Tracy love the beauty of nature and enjoy trail riding, hiking, gardening and exploring all that WNC has to offer.

Steve Herbert, Vice President Nominations & Committees Chair

Steve Herbert and his wife are landowners in Hunting Woods and is serving his second term with FETA. He is in charge of the nomination committee and works on the Trails team. He brings his experience of communications and thoughtfulness to handling FETA issues throughout the year. Steve and his wife care for the FETA trails in Chinquapin, Blockhouse and Mockingbird Hill area.

Chris Simonetti , Trailmaster

Chris Simonetti relocated from Central Upstate New York to Landrum, South Carolina where he owns and operates Lazy S Ranch, a 14-ac horse farm. Horses have been a lifelong passion for Chris since 1960. His equestrian experience includes trail riding, natural horsemanship, team penning, roping, cowboy mounted shooting and participation in the Spirit of Long Island drill team. He is a proud member of the POLK County Emergency Rescue team (PEER) and serves as FETA's Trailmaster - a very demanding role! He is active on a daily basis in maintaining and improving our association's trails. Beyond his professional and equestrian commitments, Chris cherishes time spent with his three children and eleven grandchildren.

Lynne Driscoll, Membership Chair

Lynne Driscoll loves to ride her horses, loves FETA and is a former endurance rider. You can hear her riding with the jing-a-ling of her horses' bells out on the trail with either the older Arabian mare Twigs or the gelding Beau (haflinger paint cross). Lynne has won three national riding awards for her breed association, Sport Horse of the Year (2x) and Reserve National Champion Hunter Hack. She and her husband Rob moved here from the Indianapolis, Indiana area and haven't looked back. As a retired Mergers and Acquisitions executive from Big Tech, she now spends her time playing with her grandson, watching her drummer husband in his rock band, and helping our FETA members - new and old - stay connected with this precious asset we have in Polk County.

Tracey Evans, Secretary

Tracey Evans is the President and Master EAL Instructor of Dreamwinds Equine Assisted Learning Centre in Tryon. Bringing together her horse sense and over 15 years of experience leading high performing teams, she left her successful marketing career in 2012 to pursue her passion and provide a unique approach to leadership, team building and personal development. Hailing from Canada and now making Polk County her home, Tracy is an avid equestrian who enjoys dressage, jumping and trail riding, Tracey shares 3 step-sons, 4 horses, 3 dogs, 1 cat and a donkey with her husband Dirk at their new farm on the N. Peniel FETA trails.

John Hirsh, Treasurer

John and his wife, Jo Cahill, live on a mini-farm along Hooper Creek Trail with their two horses, Win and Duke, two Shelties, a cat, and a flock of chickens. John is the chief stableboy, reporting to Jo. Duke is their newest family member and John’s horse. Win and Jo are active in TROT. A retired clinical pharmacist, John worked at teaching
hospitals and in pharmaceutical medical affairs departments, where he held various leadership roles. Win, Jo, and John greatly appreciate what the FETA trail system provides for them personally and for the community. John is grateful for the opportunity to serve as treasurer of the FETA organization.

Shell Brodnax, Events Coordinator

Shell Brodnax owns Sisterhood Stables, a Boutique boarding facility in Columbus as well as Tryon Equine Bodywork. She has a Registered Paint, Brick, and Quarter Horse, Boo, and a fancy French Percheron Gus. Shell has over thirty years in working with nonprofits. Shell is the CEO of the Real Estate Staging Association. Shell is excited to join the amazing board at FETA.

Bergen Jorgenson Price, Events and Newsletter

Bergen Jorgenson Price began riding the FETA trails at the age of ten when her family bought a summer home in Columbus. Two years later, they bought a farm with immediate access to the trails and became permanent residents. She graduated from Polk County High School then attended Appalachian State University followed by Clemson University where she obtained her MBA. Last year, she and her husband returned to Polk County to be closer to their families. Both enjoy trail riding. Bergen’s mom served on the FETA board for 15 years, and Bergen is following in her footsteps, handling the newsletter and assisting with events.

Natalie Willard (Fite), Trail Mapping

Natalie Willard (Fite) grew up in Wilkes County NC. Trail riding Moses Cone and Leatherwood were her childhood favorites. She barrel raced with the SRA, later played intercollegiate polo at the University of Oklahoma. Natalie and her husband Scott live on the Peniel Trails, with their two wonderful Tennessee Walkers Trooper and Pip. She has joined the FETA Board to create a master electronic map of all the trails for use by the Board to aid in the identification, location, and maintenance efforts. Her goal is to ride all of FETA by the end of 2026!

Pavlina Byma, Insurance

Pavlina Byma was born and raised in the Czech Republic (former Czechoslovakia). She moved to NC with her husband Patrick, cat and dogs from CA in 2019. Her passion has been always around horses and nature. Her dream of owning and working with horses was fulfilled when they built their farm in Tryon with access to FETA trails. She enjoys all disciplines of riding including Eventing and Working Equitation with their 2 horses – Quietinha and Onyx. Besides riding on and exploring our beautiful FETA trails, she enjoys traveling with her husband and just being simply surrounded by family, nature and animals.

Kathy Nebel, President Emeritus

Kathy has retired from FETA President position that she served for 6 years. We will miss her insight, knowledge, and leadership!

Kathy Nebel is a retired corporate project manager who has served as FETA president since 2018. Kathy began coming to the Tryon area decades ago for horse shows and, along with her husband, Jeff Schmitt, bought a farm on the trails in 2010. Trails bordering her previous farm near Charlotte closed, making trail preservation, happy Trail Owners and conscientious trail riders a priority. Kathy rides Connemara ponies who have carried her in the hunt field, dressage shows, over fences and on many miles of trails.

Don Cash, Trail Maintenance

The FETA Board wants to recognize Don Cash as our hidden "super power" for maintaining our trails with proficiency, skill and reliability. You can see Don out on the FETA mule with the chainsaws and other maintenance equipment in tow. Including bringing along some of our great trail volunteers. Thank you Don for all that you do!
